Questions? Ask Us Anything
Questions? Ask Us Anything
Ask us anything. There are no silly questions! Here are answers to the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, just reach out. We're happy to help.
Can I send my own design, logo, or font?
Absolutely! When you pick engraving, upload your file in the Engraving Details box, or email it to us. PNG, JPG, PDF, and SVG files all work. Not sure about your file? Send it anyway and we'll take a look. Have a favorite font? Tell us its name. One heads-up: our laser doesn't add color. It burns your design into the wood, so it comes out in natural wood-burned browns.
Where does the engraving go?
The $10 engraving covers one spot: the top of the lid or the inside of the lid, your pick. Want both? Just ask us. We don't engrave the sides or the front of the box.
How does the proof work?
We'll email your first proof within 24 hours of your order. Want something changed? Just reply. Revisions are unlimited until the engraving is exactly what you want, and nothing is engraved until you approve it. Don't see our email? Please check your spam or promotions folder. If we don't hear back within 7 days of sending your proof, we'll cancel the order and refund you.
When will my box ship?
Your box ships 1–3 days after you approve your proof. (No engraving? It ships 1–3 days after you order.) Shipping is free anywhere in the US, and USPS delivery usually takes 2–7 days once it leaves our shop. Need it by a certain date? Email us before you order and we'll tell you honestly what's realistic.
Can you make a different size?
Yes! We quote custom sizes one at a time, and they don't take any longer to build. We can go as small as 4" on a side and 2" tall, and as large as 16½" × 10¼" × 6" (outside measurements). Email us the inside measurements you need, what's going in it, your wood and hardware finish, any engraving, and the date you need it.
Is the lid solid wood?
Every one of our boxes uses recessed panel construction. The sides are solid hardwood, and the top and bottom are ¼" panels of matching oak, maple, or cherry plywood that sit in grooves cut into that solid frame. It's a sturdy, traditional way to build a box, and it helps the lid stay flat.
What will my wood look like?
We build in red oak, maple, and cherry: natural American hardwoods, with no pine and no imports. Red oak is a light tan with a warm, slightly reddish tone and a bold open grain. Maple is our lightest wood, creamy and bright. Cherry arrives a light pinkish-tan and slowly deepens with age. We don't stain, so we can't do dark colors or match a color, and screens show wood a little differently. If you're not sure which wood to pick, reach out and we'll help you choose.
Can I add a lock?
On many boxes you can pick a lock right in the Hardware menu, and a few boxes come with a lock already (the page will say so). Boxes 3" tall or less are too short for a lock, so those come with hinges or a latch instead.
I want to finish it myself. Can you help?
Happy to! Just ask, and we'll ship the hardware loose in a little bag with the holes pre-drilled, so you can finish the wood first. After you finish it, let it dry completely and air out before you close the lid.
Can you ship it as a gift?
Of course. We never put a packing slip or prices in the box, so it can go straight to the lucky person. Add a message in the Gift note box above Add to Cart and we'll include it with the box. We don't offer gift wrap.
I need several boxes. Do you offer bulk pricing?
We'd love to help with your order! We don't have bulk or wholesale pricing. Each box is built by hand and takes the same time to make, so bigger orders take longer. Tell us your date before you order and we'll let you know what's realistic.
Can I pick up my order in Murfreesboro?
Yes! Finished work can be picked up at our shop in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Payment is always made online through checkout. Email us after you order and we'll set up a pickup time.
What if I'm not happy with it?
No questions asked. If you're not happy with the box we made for you, we didn't do our job. Let us know within 60 days of delivery and we'll replace it or refund your order, and that includes engraved boxes. Return postage is paid by the customer. Arrived damaged? Send us a photo, keep it as fancy firewood, and we'll send you a new one.

How to Care for Your New Box...
How to Care for Your Box
Me and my sons put a lot of heart into building these from all-natural oak, maple, and cherry hardwood. Because it’s real wood, a little bit of love goes a long way in keeping it beautiful for years to come.
- Dusting: A quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth is all it takes to keep your box looking clean.
- Keep it Dry: It’s best to keep your box away from water. If you do happen to spill something on it, just wipe it off right away with a dry towel.
- Sunlight & Heat: Like anything grown in nature, these woods like a steady environment. Try to keep your box away from real hot radiators or sitting in direct, harsh sunlight for too long.
- The Natural Look: Since we leave the wood all natural, it will actually get even handsomer as it ages. That’s the best part about using real Tennessee hardwoods!

Can you do a custom finish or stain for me?
That’s a great question! I’d love to be able to do that for you, but our little shop is a bit of a 'dust factory' when the saws are humming. Since we don't have a separate, sealed-off finishing room, I’d have to shut down every machine and wait for the air to completely clear just to brush on a coat of stain. To make sure I can keep building and getting orders out to everyone on time, I keep things simple and send our boxes out in their beautiful natural wood. I hope you understand!
Do I need to finish my box after I receive it?
You sure don't. If you look back at how the old-time furniture makers did things, they didn't have all these modern sprays and finishes we have today, and their work has lasted for generations.
We use high-quality wood that’s built to stand the test of time all on its own. While you’re welcome to add your own touch if you would like to, there’s no need to —your box is ready to go the second it gets home.
If I want to add a finish myself, what do you recommend?
If you’re itching to add a little extra shine or color, we always say keep it simple! Since we’ve already done the heavy lifting with the sanding, a nice natural furniture wax or a simple wipe-on oil (like linseed or tung oil) works wonders.
You don't need any fancy spray booths or expensive tools—just a soft lint-free cloth and a little elbow grease. It really brings out the grain and gives it that smooth-as-silk feel. But remember, the wood is plenty beautiful on its own, so only add a finish if you're looking for a fun little afternoon project!
Planning to finish it yourself? Just ask, and we'll ship the hardware loose in a little bag with the holes pre-drilled. After you finish it, let it dry completely and air out before you close the lid.
Will the wood stay looking this beautiful?
It absolutely will! One of the best things about using real, all natural hardwood is that it actually gains a bit of 'soul' over time. Instead of wearing out like plastic, the wood will naturally deepen and develop a richer, warmer tone as the years go by. It’s a very subtle process that just makes the grain look even better—much like a cherished piece of heirloom furniture that's been in the family for ages. It’s built to grow old with you,
A Note from Our Shop to Your Home
Every piece that leaves our workshop is more than just a product to us—it’s a part of our family’s story. Born and built right here in Tennessee, each box is handcrafted with unwavering care by me and my two sons.
We take a lot of pride in choosing richly-grained hardwoods like Oak, Maple, and Cherry that are built to stand the test of time. We ship our work in its natural, unfinished state to let the wood's true character shine through, that only gets better with age.
Whether you’re storing a cherished collection or looking for that perfect addition to your home, we want you to feel the heart and soul we put into every joint and sanded edge. From our workbench to your front door, thank you for letting us be a part of your home.
