5-Row Open Card Tray — Fast Access When You Need More Storage (1,875+ Sleeved)

Same capacity as my lidded 5-row — 1,875+ sleeved (2,500+ unsleeved), about 16 Commander — without a lid to lift. Great when they need more storage at the table. Open trays aren't engraved; pick the matching lidded box if you want a personalized gift.

Open design = fast access. Perfect for collectors who want the whole collection visible on the table — grab a deck, play, put it back. Prefer a lid for travel, dust protection, or a gift engraving? Want it personalized? Choose our 5-row lidded card box instead — same ~1,875+ sleeved capacity, and we can laser the lid (proof first).

Not sure which size? Find your card box with our quick quiz, or read our card box size comparison guide.

Fit note: Holds sleeved cards or toploaders that are 4×3 inches or smaller. Graded cards are almost always too big for Designcraft boxes — we don’t claim graded storage.

How to Care for Your New Box...

How to Care for Your Box

Me and my sons put a lot of heart into building these from all-natural oak, maple, and cherry hardwoods. Because it’s real wood, a little bit of love goes a long way in keeping it beautiful for years to come.

  • Dusting: A quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth is all it takes to keep your box looking clean.
  • Keep it Dry: It’s best to keep your box away from water. If you do happen to spill something on it, just wipe it off right away with a dry towel.
  • Sunlight & Heat: Like anything grown in nature, these woods like a steady environment. Try to keep your box away from real hot radiators or sitting in direct, harsh sunlight for too long.
  • The Natural Look: Since we leave the wood all natural, it will actually get even handsomer as it ages. That’s the best part about using real Tennessee hardwoods!

A Few Other Things You Might Be Wondering About

Photoroom_20251217_192248 - The Designcraft Studio

Can you do a custom finish or stain for me?

That’s a great question! I’d love to be able to do that for you, but our little shop is a bit of a 'dust factory' when the saws are humming. Since we don't have a separate, sealed-off finishing room, I’d have to shut down every machine and wait for the air to completely clear just to brush on a coat of stain. To make sure I can keep building and getting orders out to everyone on time, I keep things simple and send our boxes out in their beautiful natural wood. I hope you understand!

Do I need to finish my box after I receive it?

You sure don't. In fact, most folks who buy our boxes leave them just the way they are! If you look back at how the old-time furniture makers did things, they didn't have all these modern sprays and finishes we have today, and their work has lasted for generations.

We use high-quality wood that’s built to stand the test of time all on its own. While you’re welcome to add your own touch if you would like to, there’s no need to —your box is ready to go the second it gets home.

If I want to add a finish myself, what do you recommend?

If you’re itching to add a little extra shine or color, we always say keep it simple! Since we’ve already done the heavy lifting with the sanding, a nice natural furniture wax or a simple wipe-on oil (like linseed or tung oil) works wonders.

You don't need any fancy spray booths or expensive tools—just a soft lint-free cloth and a little elbow grease. It really brings out the grain and gives it that smooth-as-silk feel. But remember, the wood is plenty beautiful on its own, so only add a finish if you're looking for a fun little afternoon project!

Will the wood stay looking this beautiful?

It absolutely will! One of the best things about using real, all natural hardwood is that it actually gains a bit of 'soul' over time. Instead of wearing out like plastic, the wood will naturally deepen and develop a richer, warmer tone as the years go by. It’s a very subtle process that just makes the grain look even better—much like a cherished piece of heirloom furniture that's been in the family for ages. It’s built to grow old with you,

A Note from Our Shop to Your Home

Every piece that leaves our workshop is more than just a product to us—it’s a part of our family’s story. Born and built right here in Tennessee, each box is handcrafted with unwavering care by me and my two sons.

We take a lot of pride in choosing richly-grained hardwoods like Oak, Maple, and Cherry that are built to stand the test of time. We ship our work in its natural, unfinished state to let the wood's true character shine through, that only gets better with age.

Whether you’re storing a cherished collection or looking for that perfect addition to your home, we want you to feel the heart and soul we put into every joint and sanded edge. From our workbench to your front door, thank you for letting us be a part of your home.
